THE LOCAL AREA
St Lô D`Ourville
A short walk along a quiet country lane brings you to the heart of the village. All the locals are very friendly and you will meet some true Normandy characters when you pop in to the boulangerie for your bread, or take a coffee in the bar. The grocery store across the road has a good supply of provisions.
Every Tuesday morning Portbail holds a traditional French farmer's market where you can buy fresh vegetables, cheeses, locally reared meat and, of course, the local speciality, shellfish. During the Summer months the market becomes much larger and winds down every available street, filled with wine merchants, jewellery makers, artists etc.
Just 5 minutes drive away you will find miles of clean, empty beaches that never get busy, even in August. The beautiful sandy beach is set in a protected area where a walk in the dunes leading to the next sailing resort town of Portbail is a must.
Le Bac A Sable
Just on the edge of the beach at Linbergh Plage is the cafe/bar "Le Bac A Sable". Here you can get coffee, beer, ice creams etc and when you are hungry try a mouth watering burger or a delicious salad.
We can highly recommend this bar as we are the owners!!
So why not come down and have a drink with us.
